Classic vs. Modern Movie: which one do you watch?

Let's say you only have two options on your television: a station that only airs the classics and a station that only shows the more modern movie releases. The classic station schedule includes: Key Largo, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane, On the Waterfront, It Happened One Night, D-Day, Wuthering Heights, Rebel Without a Cause, The Champ, Cane Mutiny, Vertigo, Psycho to name a few.

The modern-movie channel is airing:  LA Confidential, The King's Speech, Shakespeare in Love, Titanic, Jurassic Park, Transformers, Iron Man, Indiana Jones I, II and II, Ghostbusters I and II, Back to the Future I, II, and III, Unforgiven, Shawshank Redemption; Godfather I, II, III, all the Rocky movies... you get the idea.

The delemma here is that once you choose your channel, the other channel disappears from your television never to appear again.

So which movie channel would be your preference?

Reckoning Comments!

I'm falling into Camp Modern Movie here.  Modern movies get the benefit of getting to learn from the mistakes of older moves.

Plus, think of all the great quotes you'd lose if you knocked those modern movies out of existence.

Considering the only thing I miss about not having cable besides award shows is TCM, my vote is clear.

Love the classics but the modern channel will continue to provide new offerings.  The classic channel is pretty much stuck with what's already there.

I wouldn't want to live in a  world without Ghostbusters.  Doh, Ray, Egon....

I was just about to go 'Classic Channel' when I read Ned's comment.  I, too, consider a life without Ghostbusters no life at all.

Thing is, I have some favorite modern movies I think will become classics.

But as it stands now, I'm for the Modern Movies! Although I'm always amazed at how old movies deal with problems and situations in love and life as if they are timeless, I think I like to see how things progress in the new ages and mind-sets.
