The Reckoner!

Do you exercise better in a group or alone?

Which is your preference when excercising: to be energized by being in a class, on a team, or in a group, or alone in your own world while you push through in your home, on the trail, or in the gym.

Music and/or television do not count as being with other people. Trainers do count as other people.

Reckoning Comments!

When it comes to exercise, I'm all about applied movement.  That means sports.  Sports are the best way to trick your body into thinking "I'm having fun" even as your taking every muscle fiber and detonating it with extreme prejudice.  Exercising on your own (especially in an abandoned hotel gym, which is where I've done most of my exercise over the years) just makes things difficult.

Especially when doing cardio, you need some distraction from the "I hate this... I hate this... I hate this..." going on in your body the whole time.

Others would push you way further for better results then being alone.

As someone who owned a fitness club and taught classes, I will say this:

I can work out just as well alone, listening to stimulating music.

It's all about our motivation level and what it takes to get you there.
